Celebrate, heathens, for another Caption Slugfest is upon us!

The image for this Slugfest was lovingly selected and disturbingly distributed by our very own Darren Saturday [1].

Also, I’m instituting a new rule that no-one by the name of Stark Raving Duncan is allowed to post the Trevor technical difficulty submission ever again on pain of being called at work and asked, “Why are you like that?” [3]

ATTENTION ALL VOODOOLOGIC OPERATIVES:

Please be on the lookout for a suspect in the recent Voodoologic Caption Slugfest Competition, “Man in flippers with bus.”

Descriptions of this suspect vary: some have suggested he is twelve feet tall and scaly and lurks at the bottom of lagoons, while others have described him as lurking at the bottom of ponds instead. Although, these would have to be deep frickin’ ponds, since he claims to live at a depth of 40,000 fathoms.

His winning entry was:

It was either Jesus or the famed purple ninja, nobody walked on water like those two.

He is to be considered armed and humorous. Please approach with extreme caution, as he may say something funny without any provocation.

The votes are in, the ballots have been counted, the returning officers have been soundly flogged and locked in the Voodoologic dungeons for the kind of corruption that would make a private contracting company in Iraq blush, and yet it still appears that Darren Saturday has emerged as the winner of the “Cats in the cradle” caption slugfest.

Let me be the first to grudgingly congratulate him for his winning entry, and to also announce a broadly commissioned inquiry into the controversy that will henceforth be known among all Voodoonista as ‘Cradlegate’:

I’d also like to point out that this marks the first slugfest in which anyone has voted for one of my submissions, so whoever threw me that bone, I wish I was cool enough to ignore it, but it’s fairly obvious I’m not, so let’s all pretend I didn’t mention it.

Right, now that we’ve dealt with that moderately awkward moment, I’m pleased to hint that the next caption slugfest will definitely push back the quantum boundaries of hilarity in ways that only a particle physicist would hope to be able to understand [1]. I can tell you that it does feature one or more musical instruments, and that someone may well be wearing a hat. Or, you never know, maybe not.

Well, ha ha ha, I’m laughing already!

So, congratulations again to Darren Saturday [2], and stay tuned for the next slugfest, which should kick off soon.

“Well, I, er…,” said Darren Saturday, picking himself up from the floor and pointlessly re-arranging his scanty toga.

“Don’t give me that!” Yelled Midnight. “It’s been…” He stopped and his eyes rolled off in different directions as he began calculating. “…a bugger of a long time, that’s how long it’s been!”

“But, but,” Saturday stammered, “our market research says we shouldn’t over-”

“I don’t give two figs and a ha’penny farthing for what our market research says,” Midnight growled, “my gut tells me we’re overdue. I can feel it in my bones, and not only that, when I went to the bathroom before-”

“We haven’t got anything prepared!” Blurted Saturday, who would have happily walked blindfolded into highway traffic rather than hear another anecdotal story about Midnight going to the bathroom.

“Haven’t we?” Midnight said, a sly, wicked grin slithering across his sly, wicked features. “Haven’t we?”

The colour drained away from Saturday’s face, as well as from his kneecaps. “You… you can’t mean…” he began in a horrified whisper.

“Yes! Aha ahahahah!” Midnight exulted [1] “Deploy the image of the weird looking guy dancing with the cats!”

“Dear Grod, noooooo!” said Darren Saturday, fainting into the arms of his houris, who also fainted, because houris are like that. And just before he lost consciousness he mumbled, “What the hell is a ha’penny farthing, anyway?”

It was a competition dominated by two Voodooista, Illuminated Dan and Stark Raving Duncan, with a result that was so close that you’d have to question whether or not the result was getting up to some funny business with itself while no-one was watching.

Now, without any further annoying text-stuff from me, here’s the winning entry of the “Anyone Seen Eddie?” caption slugfest:

Stark Raving Duncan: “At 5.01pm management was forced to rethink it’s new zero overtime policy.”

Congratulations to Stark Raving Duncan, but also congratulations to Illuminated Dan for putting in a hell of an effort, and for submitting some brilliant lines.
