Oregon. A United STATE of America.
North of California. Mountains and forests.
Home to a Portland Basketball team of some note… no NFL gridiron ….but you can ‘Go Ducks’ Baseball.
It is a state made up of settlers. Many people have travelled from far and ..umm far’ar…. to get there. Brave settlers from afar… like New Zealand via BrisVegas.
But what if getting to Oregon was like a 1980′s computer game running off Midnight’s old Amstrad computer… you know… not an Atari. Like the one Saturday had. It rocked. Midnight knows it rocked. Even with the insane audio tape backup drive.
Amstrad was kinda beige. Like the games. And possibly Oregon.

It’s the music that really kills me. Arrrrrgh.
It looks more like a Sega game. I had a Sega. Loved that old piece of junk.
Oregon alas is defined as the place you pass through on your way from California to Washington. Yes it has an NBA team, the Portland Trailblazers, but who has ever heard of any of their players? and as for the universities, well you can either support the Ducks or the Beavers. The local high school football team are the Centurians but I doubt any of them know anything about Roman history, mind you we did have a local player in the winning Pittsburgh Steelers Superbowl team this year. he’s something of a local celebrity.
As for local celebrities of real merit, well there aren’t any you’d know, unless you are a fan of Colonel Flagg from MASH or know the author of The Birdman of Alcatraz. Interestingly enough though George Miller of Mad Max fame lives just up the road although I’m not about to go and knock on his door.
Yes there are still a lot of the old folk here whose grandparents found this place. Its kind of nice actually to be that close to the beginning of the place and hear tales of how their grandparents fought off indians and stuff. Bizarre.
