It’s time.

End of the financial year and the start of another and with that comes the strangest of business practices – the performance review.

Sure. I’ve halfheartedly conducted a number of these over the years with mystified staff and I’ve been subjected to many more in return by managers desperately looking for constructive criticism to fling your way before explaining that there will be no pay bump this year…and to be frank I just don’t get them.

I mean surely you don’t need some formalized process undertaken to know how everyone is travelling. I mean bloody hell… if that is the case, get off your butt and walk about and see first hand what’s happening today… right now… I mean how dysfunctional can things really be…

I reckon that instead of performance reviews that are just plain annoying and seem mostly important to bloated HR departments – instead all staff should participate in the making of a departmental video.
