Too Much Social Bookmarkers

social_bookmarking I’ve just done a search on the top social bookmarking sites and on the first three pings, all three seemingly reputable sites all threw up similar results… well the first part of their list anyway. We are talking about some of the big boys staking out the top of these lists… the usual suspects such as reddit, stumbleupon, del.icio.us, Y! Buzz and digg…..

But then each list starts to diverge… with some sites such as propeller and minxx shifting in pole positions while other sites drop away outright to others… and then there are those that for some strange reason I thought would have featured… should have featured… don’t. Yup. Ladies and gentlemen… and Stark Raving Duncan – where is Mr Wong? Nada. No where to be seen. Nope. Does not rate… like Midnight’s Houdini-like card dealing skills.

OKay – I must confess.
I personally have always liked having Mister Wong on this website as a bookmarking option and always notice when he pops up on other sites I am passing through but I confess that I have never actually used his services for bookmarking myself. I use deli.icou.us … even after Midnight blew my brains by demonstrating how social it really is. Freakin’ me to the unhappy place uhuh.

The only way I can explain it is that it kinda makes me feel that just having the little Wong icon there the world is a better place… ’cause at anytime I choose I could just swing my mouse pointer over, click a little Mister Wong, and kablammee- a magical plate of prawn toast and spring rolls would appear on my desk… delivery time pending my bandwidth shaping status of course.

Sure. I know this is not actually possible but… and this is important… it could… and as long as I don’t actually click his little red and white scripted shield… it always remains possible… and that’s how I also explain the popularity of that other beloved and underused social bookmark – fark…. but that’s another story also involving plum sauce and a startled member of the Wong family.

I guess the thing I don’t get is why so many… sure sure specialised ones like kaboodle for mad shoppers, newsvine for news obsessed or techy one’s like technocrati for the IT crowd… I guess I get it… the internet is like one of those American supermarkets with the thousands of different choices in ice creams… but for me it is just too much. Too much choice… (sigh) just way way too many. I mean who really uses sphinn? or haohao?

Just managing one bookmarking service effectively is a challenge… for me anyhow… what on earth would I want multiple versions competing for my mindspace… which leads me to wonder what bookmarking site if any do the other Voodoonistas employ and why? Not why you want to bookmark Midnight but rather how do you do it… I mean really DO it. Wong-style.

well okay then. so my rant about social bookmarking wasn’t quite as rabble rousing as one thought. May I just say “Chicks – go figure” and leave it at that. Oh and a hankering for a BLT with like real crispy strips of bacon, a cool mayo with a speckle of mustard seeds, crunchy light green cos lettuce, a couple of thick sliced vine ripen tomatos, a sprinkly of sea salt and crushed black pepper, all wedged inside a crusty sourbread roll. Now that’s what I am talking about people! Bookmark that… hehhehehe.
