...I have to confess I really liked his music while I was finishing high school. I really liked his style as well... I... wanted... to... be... Rick. The light blue shirts buttoned to the neck, the Raybans, the trenchcoat, the black slip-ons with white socks - the dude was the height of '80's man-style. The only thing I found more than a little strange was the two dancing shadows in his 'Need Somebody' clip - one looks hot (as a shadow outline can) but the other is... well.. very unattractive looking (for a shadow outline).. and although it seems like they are both chicks.. later in the clip, the not so attractive shadow kinda turns into a bloke and they both start pashing. ummm ok. Actually now that I think of it... he also had two dancers backing him up in the "Never Gonna Give You Up' clip... they were fine looking gals in a very '80's way... it was the groovin' bartender watching Rick and the gals and making eyes at Rick that's kinda...off putting... not that there's anything wrong with that. I think he crosses the line when he gets his 'groove thang' on and breaks into dance including an unwarranted backflip off a wall... I mean isn't it enough that I gotta watch Rick sway back and forth... swaying endlessly... visit your youtube for both clips... and enjoy.

Rick Astley let me down. I was having dinner at his place and after the main course I said "That was excellent Rick, what's for sweets" and he said "Nothing, 'cause I'm not gonna run around and dessert you!"
