Read an article today online titled “Executioner warns of Obama Assasination’ and it kinda disturbed me a little.

The gist of the story is that Bernard Hopkins who goes by the boxing moniker of ‘The Executioner’ is of the opinion that America isn’t ready for a black President. What;s more, even if Obama does finds himself sitting in the White House, Bernie, to his pals, predicts it won’t be too long before Obama is taken out… but not in a good way with chocolates and a scarf.

Geeez I hope he is way off the mark, I kinda need to believe that America has advanced from those days when visionaries who upset the status quo like Martin Luther and even Malcolm X got assassinated for their efforts. Mind you, from what I read – Malcolm was a fair nutter. Eloquent but a nutter nevertheless.

In my book, race and creed shouldn’t make a difference in terms of political office where leadership, vision, and personal qualities should count for more… but then Mitt Romney isn’t running any more and I can’t help but think his spiritual beliefs kinda spooked the red team to the point that given the choice, they choose Granddad over a Morman.

The other two things that I find curious in Bernie’s comments in the article is that a woman as President, even Hillary, seems to be acceptable. He points out that she was President for eight years… so with that in mind does mean that during the Clinton terms Bill and Hill’ were co-presidents or that Bill was in fact the first lady. Man that must have just pissed Al off no end. He probably was right about those eight years. She was/is a tough cookie. I’d like to see her bitch slap Oprah a couple times as the Commander in Chief.

Still the fact that the ‘Executioner’, and former pimp and prostitute basher, is okay with a woman President is at the very least refreshing. We can potentially cross off gender as being a Presidential obstacle – and I’m all for that. What also irks me is that the Bern-ster felt compleled to reveal that he considered himself a ‘Republicrat’. Oh… okay then. Stand down people, he is an informed pundit. With a foot in each camp and a glossy invitation in hand to the ‘Purple Party’ – I can confess that I am all the better for having read Hoppy’s take on the likely future of Mr Obama. He’s no Boxer by crikey, he is a fair dinkum futurist.

I wait with baited breath for his special comments during the election night coverage. For Obama’s sake let’s hope a Clinton get’s up, for the world’s sake let’s hope that either Obama or Clinton get up so we can all move on from this sick mindset that Bernard echoes.
